Abraham’s Belief in a Penal Substitute: Part II of the Cavey/Carter Trilogy

Tagged: Bruxy Cavey, Paul Carter, penal substitutionary atonement, The Gospel Coalition

The Gospel Coalition Canada, under the leadership of Pastor Paul Carter, just completed a trilogy of interviews with Bruxy Cavey.  The purpose was to gain a clearer understanding of Cavey’s teachings, a body of teachings which I call “Bruxyianity.”  My purpose in writing this is to discuss Part II yet again.  Having already corrected oneRead more

Part II of the Cavey/Carter Trilogy, and the Cup of God’s Wrath

Tagged: Bruxy Cavey, Paul Carter, penal substitutionary atonement, propitiation, The Gospel Coalition

What’s going on over at The Gospel Coalition Canada is quite interesting.  They’ve embarked, under the leadership of Pastor Paul Carter, on a quest to learn what Bruxy Cavey thinks about some very important things in his own words as they say.  So far, there have been two interviews, and we are told we can anticipateRead more

Rebel Alliance Podcast: The Heretic Sensitivity Movement

I was interviewed again by the guys over at the Rebel Alliance Media Podcast as a follow up to discuss all that has transpired since my last interview. In this episode, we discuss what the Bible has to say about wolves and how that relates to Bruxy Cavey and TGC Canada’s recent interview series withRead more

Cavey, Carter, Clarity, and the Carpenter

Tagged: Bruxy Cavey, inerrancy, Paul Carter, The Gospel Coalition

At The Gospel Coalition Canada, Pastor Paul Carter has started a series of interviews to determine what Bruxy Cavey actually believes, in Cavey’s own words.  I have spoken and written extensively on Bruxy Cavey already, so I was intrigued when I learned about this initiative.  Having read the first interview just under a week agoRead more

Theological Caution From Some Favourite Quotes

When it comes to dealing with liberals, there are two books that I have burned into my mind.  These two books had such an influence upon me that I continue to reflect upon their content after having read both over a decade ago.  The first book is What is an Evangelical? by Martin Lloyd-Jones.  It wasRead more

The Heretic-Sensitive Movement

By Jacob Reaume | September 8, 2018 | Leave a Comment |
Tagged: false-teachers, pragmatism

I remember the seeker-sensitive movement.  In the 1990’s evangelical churches began toning down their preaching in a pragmatic attempt to woo so-called seekers into their churches.  By leaving out the less culturally acceptable stuff from their sermons, they thought they’d become more culturally relevant.  Throw out the cherished and beneficial traditions of the church, waterRead more

An Evaluation of Bruxy Cavey’s Response to Criticism

Tagged: Bruxy Cavey, false-teacher

Bruxy Cavey is at the center of what I believe is the most significant theological controversy Canadian Evangelicals have faced in almost 70 years. It is likely the most important controversy since the fundamentalist/modernist controversy. Once again, a generation must decide where it stands on some foundational issues, namely (1) the atonement, (2) Scripture, andRead more

Not By the Hair of My Chinny Chin Chin! Or, What Not to Do With Wolves

When I was a younger man, I worked at a slaughter house.  We processed about 2,000 head of cattle a day.  My job was in the cold room where I picked fat off the floor, cut steaks, and pulled paddle bones from the carcasses.  The cold room where I worked was bloody, but compared toRead more
